How to Build a Truss: A Workshop with Build Hudson

Saturday June 7

Art Omi , 1405 County Route 22 Ghent, NY
Join us for a hands-on, how-to carpentry workshop and educational event presented in collaboration with Build Hudson. Participants will work alongside carpenters to assemble structural trusses—frameworks of interconnected components commonly used in barn construction. Open to all skill levels, the workshop introduces basic construction tools and terminology while offering insight into the collaborative efforts of building.

This program marks the closing of Staging Area: A Barn Raising in Two Parts (Part One), an exhibition by Erin Besler that explores the social choreography of the construction site, focusing on collective labor through the model of a barn building.

This workshop is recommended for individuals ages 8 and up. Parental supervision of children is required at all times.

Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Participants may sign up for either a morning (10AM–12PM) or afternoon (2PM–4PM) session. Workshop slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
